Panorex

Advanced Imaging

Panorex, commonly referred to as a panoramic x-ray, is a diagnostic tool widely used in dentistry. Unlike traditional dental x-rays, Panorex captures a full view of the patient’s oral cavity, including the teeth, jaws, temporomandibular joints, mandibular nerve, sinuses, and nasal area.

While traditional x-rays are great at capturing detailed images of each tooth, Panorex images are used to examine the oral cavity and the facial structures surrounding it as a whole. Various oral conditions can be present for years and won’t be caught with traditional dental imaging. Cysts, tumors, extra teeth, and other oral abnormalities can be easily detected early on with Panorex.

Panorex is commonly used to:
  • Assess severe gag reflexes
  • Examine TMJ disorder progression
  • Detect cysts, tumors, and other abnormalities
  • Evaluate impacted teeth
  • Examine wisdom teeth position
  • Design treatment plans for dentures, braces, and implants
  • Detect gum disease and cavities

Panorex imaging is quick and simple. A machine will rotate around the patient’s head to capture the entire oral cavity in a manner of seconds. No uncomfortable bitewings required! Your doctor will then analyze the image and discuss their findings with you.
